Exhaust for 1996 F-150
I'm considering changing the CatBack system on my truck to improve fuel economy and give me a more desirable sound. I want a lower, deeper sound but not obnoxiously loud and I would prefer something that ports out close to the factory area. Any suggestions? I have been looking around and price quoting, but I'm curious if any of you have changed it yours out and what you would recommend.
I saw a Pacesetter exhaust system, anyone used one? What did you think?
Also, if you have any other tips on improving the gas mileage, I would be open to hearing them.
Truck Stats:
1996 F-150 XLT - Practically all stock parts
5.0 L V8 Manual Transmission
2WD
6 Ft Bed

Ive got the 351 with shorty flowtech headers, true dual no cats with 2.25 pipe, and thrush glasspacks. sounds amazing and gave me so much more power...didnt do jack on the gas mileage though.

Isn't there an O2 sensor after the cat? If you remove the cat, how do you get around the emissions or check engine light? Ive got the 351 setup as well and I want true dual, but I don't want to have to rewire a truck to do it.

Depends on what year. My truck had it before the cat and its a 95. I know some have it after. All you would have to do is cuz the cat out and in the new piping juts weld a o2 bung. You can get them off of jegs for dirt cheap.

Ok, but if you run true duals, you have a pipe on each side. Is it going to confuse the computer to only be reading half the exhaust? And i'd hate to find out after I paid to get duals all the way back and have to have it changed to a Y pipe and split after the CAT

no, because it should still get a reading from your exhaust or however that thing works. I know mine is perfectly fine. At first i thought the check engine light would be on, but after finding out the guy forgot to put the o2 sensor back in....that shut it right off. But if you dont feel like that will work, i would just put an xpipe in furthur up, or a pipe connecting the 2 pipes. Then just put the o2 sensor in there.
