This has been going on for a few weeks now. While the engine is idling it makes this ticking/tapping noise but only on the passenger side of the engine and mostly after its warmed up. Its not very loud but you can hear it if you stand near the passenger side. Here's a video of it running: I'm a little worried about it. Anyone know what it might be?

Rusty but trusty

Hard to tell without being there but it sounds like noisy lifters to me. What does it do when you rev it? If it's only at idle I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it, just keep an eye on it.

If you rev it it stops and I can't hear it driving down the road or even in the cab while its idling

Another thing- this sound is intermittent. I just started up my truck and no noticeable unusual noises. Weird

Mine was doing the same thing and a spark plug was loose.

An exhaust leak is another culprit for the tapping sound. That is what my truck was doing. Sounded like the engine was knocking.

Same thing happened to mine 2004 5.4l, it was a cylinder 8 coil
