Check your ignition control module which is attatched to your distributor. I have had the same problem twice and this was the fix both times. There is a test in the manual to check it. They cost around $40 to $50.

I know I hit my "apology" quota early this month! But just take a minute and think where we would be w/o "Vodka", and how the "Cold War" stimulated our economy. I know I was working regular! I think we all owe Hamstermiester an ......................OK, maybe just you! Anyway, as far as your starting prob is concearned, A KOEO ( Key On Engine Off) Error code scan should prove enlightening!

Speaking of apologies, I'm sorry hawkeye90210-30248, but your avatar looks like The I.B.S. (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) Poster boy! Geese, now I'm apologizing in advance! Ya know, the more you apologize, the easier it gets! If this keeps up, I'm going to have to change my signature to a pre-apology disclaimer. "Pre-Apologizing.....One ford Truck at a Time!" Or maybe: "Is it starting to get really hot, or is it just me and what am I doing in this handbasket?"

Im going to run through the steps in the haynes for the ignition testing tomorrow. How much does an engine code reader set me back? I hate to tow the damned thing to partsource just to get them to check it. Right now? Drinking away the fact that I tore the front half of my engine off for nothing!

You don't need a scanner to read the codes, the Haynes explains how or there's a thread in the "Maintenance" section that also explains how. Checking codes is the first thing you should have done.

Ignition Coil. Mechanic said that it was sending spark but wasn't strong enough. Figured I'd let ya know in case someone searches and this pops up.
