Yeah, it's an easy fix, and inexpensive.

As others said, you really should consider fixing it. I'd really hate to log on one day and see that someone nominated you for a Darwin Award...

Remind to not visit Mansfield. If I ever do, I promise to stay vigilant for the OPs truck. The cavalier attitude for eliminating safety systems disturbs me. Especially in the context of one that can't maintain the E brake system, one would tend to think the primary system would be unmaintained as well. This is precisely the kind of owner that NEEDS an E brake system. The OP is not indestructible and 10' tall, and, after all, there are other drivers on the road, some with small children whose lives should be protected. I don't advocate eliminating this important safety system in any way shape or form and I don't believe the responsible membership on this board should assist the OP in this fools quest.

I do consider other drivers on the road, always do.I aint some crazy lunatic causing car crashes of any kind.I can't help it my e brake is getting in the way, causing me to drive slow and accelerate harder than before.I've looked at all angles tryna fix this thing. My dad got ahold of my truck other day.He personally took care of the e brake himself.it's def gone now needless to say lol.

unless i'm parking on a steep hill,i don't necessarily need it anyhow in my humble opinion.

I rolled into a highway patrolman's cruiser when I got pulled over once because of my ebrake not holding...actually left with just a warning. Thank god for bull bars on those cruisers...lol.

Moral of the story, you need a working ebrake. Especially if you have a manual trans. Even with an auto, those parking pawls aren't build to hold a lot of weight (say, if you're parking on a hill and loaded or towing).

Trust me you want the e brake. Things break when you least expect it and if the e brake isn't there it could cost you your life or worse an innocent person. Mine broke during my safety, never got around to fixing it and on my first test run with the manual, the pin fell out holding the brake plunger to the pedal. I didn't notice until I wanted to stop, needless to say I stopped about 200 feet farther then expected. Do it right and fix it.

What I don't understand is why it can't be fixed. There are very few components all easy to get to, easy to get. Pedal assembly, front cable, equalizer, rear cables and associated brackets. The e brake bar in the drum. Everything else is part of the regular brake system. These parts are all low$ and readily available.

Hey OP, send me your e-brake cable so I can fix mine, lol. I am using wheel chocks until I can get a new cable and fix my e-brake. I've got an auto so hopefully the parking paws and chocks are enough to hold her till I get it done. I DO avoid parking on anything too steep as well just to be safe.
