I did it too.....

I used a Derale kit...although it is an older kit I will be ordering another just for the spare...

this kit had the old glass type fuse and today it corroded enough it wouldnt turnt eh fan on and while sitting at a RR track waiting for a train and talking on the cell phone I wasnt paying attention and it started to overheat....

it started steaming when the needle hit the M in NORMAL....had to replace the fuse holder with the blade type and I also changed the relay....

other than this I couldnt be happier with the change

On my truck, i gain 2 MPG. as long im moving my e/fan never turn on . i drive 20 min. to work every day at 60 mph and my engine stays at normal temp. all the time. and if i sotp at a stop light they might turn on for less than a min. even during summer time temp. gets over 110. and same thing as long as im moving fan never turns on .

the fan shouldnt come on when driving....

only time it should be on when moving is when the AC is on...

I only have one 20 in fan on the inside of the shroud....once summer gets here I am going to put 2-12 in pushers on the outside wired to a relay directly to the AC switch...

it should be wired to the Ground trigger wire of the AC pump so that when teh AC is turned on it turns the fan on....this keeps the condenser cool and the AC will be colder especially when sitting still...

My kit has the ground trigger wire in it already I just need to hook it to the trigger side of the pressure switch on the dryer

Is the relay pretty easy to hook up?

yes very easy....you want the 4 wire relay and socket...they sell them at most auto parts stores in the E-Fan isle....with directions...

the best kind to get is the Adjustable Unit with a Coolant temp sensor...that goes in the block....

I havent need it so far, but if i do Im planning to install a relay on the A/C presure switch , the one on the dryer. and connect it to the ground side of my set up .I didnt have enough money to buy one, I went to buy couple fans at wrecking yard, Distribution box, fuse box, couple 70 amps relays, thermo switch (210 on-180 off). Switchand small LED (Radio shack) and i made my own shroud ( 304 stainless steal, and machine my own thermo housing (304 stailess steel) to use a thermo switch.let me try to post some pics of my own set up
