The hose theoretically just blows fresh air from the air pump when the diverter opens to it so it really shouldn't affect the engine in any way.
It has nothing to do with the vacuum system or the air/fuel mixture, so my guess would be that it's unrelated to the rpm drop.
I could be wrong about that of course, but I can't see how it would affect the motor in any way to have the hose that would have gone to the cat disconnected.
Tried pulling codes yet ?

no theres no engine light on the dash so i figured i didn't need to pull codes until that happened i guess i still need to regardless? i can tomorrow afternoon after class. could the fact i have no back pressure on the exhaust possibly be causing this issue? i bought a section of pipe and a double female and 3 U bolts to connect the gap i hacked off so at lease muffler will be connected again maybe that back pressure could be the issue?

also a friend had me try plugging the hose so i took a half inch bolt and hose clamp and plugged it it did not fix the issue but seemed to slightly reduce the horsepower was this a bad or good idea or doesn't matter?

I don't know if it matters, probably not. But there wasn't too much point blocking it because it doesn't suck, it blows.

OK thanks I'll check for codes this afternoon and try adding the exhaust pipe to reconnect the muffler and see if simply adding a little back pressure helps if not I'm at a loss no clue what it could be

http://www.troublecodes.net/ford/

I'd be looking at EGR, O2 sensor, and the Vehicle Speed Sensor on top of the rear differential.

If you don't have EGR or O2 sensor any more, then that's probably why you are getting a code for those.

O2 sensor is located where the two pipes from the exhaust manifolds meet up - passenger side. Sometimes the connector gets burnt up and/or caked up with oil from leaky oil pans.
