Default ECM Compatibility?

The ECM in my truck is part # F2TF-12A650-MA. I've found new/rebuilt ones online that either list it as compatible with F2TF-MA (or a whole host of others for the same year) or just a random "this fits a 91-92 F150". The -MA one is about double the others that I've found. Would I be ok with using one that's set up for a 5.8 with e40d, or do I need to go with only the -MA?

One of my buddies had this truck just sitting in his back yard ready to rot away. There was a lot that needed replaced, but I couldn't resist a project that involved an F150 (especially with a 351)! After getting it running, it was just running like crap, so I pulled the engine and tore it down. It didn't need much, but I figured for $1200, I'd just throw a freshly rebuilt one in. I've replaced literally everything on the engine except for the lower and upper intakes and the accessories (I did put a new alternator on). Long story short, it runs great at idle, but way too rich. As in huge clouds of smoke coming out of the tailpipe that is basically straight gas. I pulled the ecm out and took it apart and found a piece that had melted and/or corroded off.
