Manual hub problem! Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you are my only hope!
I just replaced the inner and outer wheel bearings on the passenger side. I installed everything the same way it came out but now my 4x4 wont engage at the wheel hubs. I read up on several sites that your supposed to torque down the locknut and some sites said torque down to spec then bring back to finger tight.
Im at a loss on how to do this because all diagrams show a inner lock nut and a outer one. Mine does not have a inner one just a cup looking washer with a ratchet grooved inner piece and a locknut with the same grooves facing the washer.
So what i did was leave that washer cup out put in the locknut and torqued it down then removed the locknut put in the washer and then put the locknut back in till it was hand tight and not making the clicking sound on that washer anymore.
The truck drives great no pulling or noises just wont engage into 4x4

If you have the self locking hub nut, which sounds like you do. You will need to torque the nut and washer setup to 70 ft-lbs loosen 1/4 turn and then final torque to 35 ft-lbs.
