Default 1988 4.9 - air rail

Minor problem, but I blew out my air rail while back. It made a pretty for a pretty annoying exhaust leak sound so, figuring the old one was probably rusted on the tips, I bought a new one and installed it to the best of my ability. Well its been a little over a month and the new one blew out. That sucker was tight and I can tap it back in, but after about 100 miles it will blow out again. Anybody else have this problem? Could a clogged cat cause more pressure on the air rail and blow it out? My truck actually seems to have more power when the thing is leaking exhaust. Its a pain to install and I'd rather not make a habit of it. Thoughts?

Sounds like your cat is clogged up,cut it out and run direct. That's what I did

Air injection has nothing to do with the cats as far as pressure. I would guess the ports are clogged. If the truck runs better with them out you then it is running rich. Pulling the air rail will cause a major vacuum leak.
