Wife tells me my truck is old ugly and she hates it! WTF? I dont talk to her like that!! Thinks I have no self worth or pride because I drive this truck everyday now. Sure I could drive a new truck but why in the world would I want to when my 93 does everything I need it to do? Is image really that important? What does a new truck say about a man? What does an old truck say about someone? Granted I have means to buy any truck on market but I dont even want a new anything! I dont like to rub and polish on anything... I ride it hard and put it away wet.

Some people drive a 20 year old truck because they have to ... I do it because I want to.
My wife's just fine with that. Mind you, I do do a little rubbing and polishing on occasion. I enjoy it.
And when she's all polished up and gleaming, it draws a lot of looks and comments. My wife looks really good behind the wheel, too. Put the two together and people just stop and stare. I think that's the part I like the best.
Anybody can just go down to the dealership and sign their name... hell I could just go pay cash. But that's not what I want. Having what I want is more important to me than having what the neighbours think I should have.
You want to watch how you present that.

unless your wife does like to "rub and polish" you so much that you can't afford to **** her off, tell her to stick it!
From your avatar (not familiar with your truck) it looks "old" but in good condition, so I agree, why would you spend $30k or $40k on a new truck...
eh, there's an idea for you... next time she comes to you and say "hey honey, how do you like my new dress / hair-do / make-up?", just tell her it's ugly, you hate it and it makes her look old... be ready to either run fast or spend a few nights in your truck though!

My rib says the same kind of stuff. I've been splitting between the 2fiddy and the "stepside" as she calls it. She says she hates the style and is embarrassed to have it in the driveway. Every single time she says something, I close her down with "I guess it's a good thing you don't have to ride in it, huh?"

It is all about compromise, I get my vehicles but had to buy her a Cadillac. Now, mind you, things are easier with this truck because it's got a great body, paint is good and shiny, and doesn't have any issues. I had an old s10 that was rusted out, rattle can paint job, no electronics in dash, loose battery that would kill the truck if you stopped too quickly, etc... She hated that truck, it was ugly, it was a death trap, it was this, it was that. I've learned that she doesn't really care what something is, but if it isn't all shiny then she just doesn't like it.
OR... You could tell her that you and a friend were talking about your truck and you couldn't believe what he said. (repeat pretty much what she said) older, a LOT of miles, doesn't do all the things a new one can, gas hog, doesn't look as good as it used to, etc... Then, right when she is feeling that your buddy is on her side, tell her you hit him because no one was going to talk about your wife that way. I think the trick is to get them to see our love for old trucks as loyalty, that we would rather stay with the one we've had for years than just trade it in for a new model. If you can get her to put that together you are golden, as long as you don't ever buy a new vehicle.
