Exclamation differential shimming

ok, 88 f150 302 2WD, im switching to a posi unit i picked up. im putting new bearings on it and the same ring gear out of my truck. from what ive been reading (from the mustang forums cuas ei cant find any on here) is that as long as u are putting on the same ring gear as what was in there you should have to change the shimming. is this true? or will i have to mess with the depth or whatever. i am mechanically inclined but this shimming junk is worrying me, i dont want a whine on the highway .

you should be ok using the same shims. after you install it run a gear pattern check and measure the lash with a dial indicator just to be sure. good luck
