Default desperate to solve a possible electrical issue?

Trying desperately to get our 1988 ford f150 xlt lariat 5.0L to stay running. Where to start? At first the truck was drivable as long as we had foot on gas. And would only cut off a few times while driving. Thought fuel issues. It had a new front gas tank put on before we bought it and originally were trying to do away with second tank and go to a single fuel regulator. So we tried to bypass it all together but then the truck wouldn't make it out the driveway. Unable to find the part. we bought another duel fuel regulator and just won't change the switch to the rear tank. Thought we had it fixed but then it acted like we had bad gas and wouldn't stay running. Back to square one. We put a new fuel pump on the truck and I belive a filter as well. Acted like it was fixed but not for long. Realized we had a water leak. Thought water pump but turned out it was leaking From the timing cover? Took all that off. Put a New serpentine belt on, Water pump gaskets, drained the tank and got new gas, flushed the radiator. Ect. And wah la. Fixed. But then When we Turned on the after market radio (also put in before we got it) the whole truck jus died. So we removed the radio and speakers. Fixed issue for a while, was able to inspect and drive home. Then started again shutting off while driving no matter if accelerating, or not. And kept getting worse. Checked ground wires. Didn't see anything. Cleaned distributor. Seemed okay but had few scratches? Battery light came on. Checked alternator seemed okay. But Took to get checked and said berrings in it may be bad. So new alternator put on. Again thought fixed. But when the wipers and headlights were turned on due to all the current rain the truck again shut off.
No idea where to go from here and what else to check. I have been reading forms for weeks now and can't find what's causing this.
