decent oil weight

Question decent oil weight

so i get my license back tomorrow and my truck is almost 7000 over due for an oil change so my question is what weight oil is good usually i run 10w40 in it seein as how it never drops below ten degrees in the winter but is their an oil that could help out my bottom end a little bit and help keep my truck good and healthy ( oh its a 4.9 inline six by the way

7000 miles overdue is a way long time. Check your owners manual for the required oil spec. I'm guessing 10W-30 is what is suggested but you need to check for sure.

well the old man i bought it off has run 10 w 40 in it since 93 so im thinkin thats my best bet and its so overdue because i havent had to money and the past 2 weeks and couldnt go pick any up but thanks though

I personally run 15w-40 Mobile Delvac but then again i work on Semi trucks all day long and i get it free. I live in TN so it doesnt get too cold.

10-40 is fine since that is what has been in it.. Might consider switching to a synthetic if you are going to go that far over mileage.

well ngm normally i wouldnt let it but between school and helpin my future step mom move i havent had the chance
whats a good brand synthetic to use

Here is where alot of ppl differ. If its synthetic its good. I prefer Mobil 1. Its more available than some of the others like Royal Purple or Amsoil.

I second you Mobile 1 is the way to go for synthetic oil. Royal Purple is the best but very expensive.
