boy what a subject for us... ford was late to the bus with cupholders, so its something that our trucks lack. i have desperately wanted to get some, but have never had any luck of finding just a plain round insert. UNTIL wednesday when i found exactly what i wanted! i was casually looking on ebay and there they were. i jumped for it and they were delivered yesterday. i had time to get the armrest off (thats where im putting them) but not to start cutting, as we left town.
heres the inserts that i got

now be warned that if you have a fairly large cup it will not fit in this. i did not realize that and all it fits is a plastic waterbottle

Those are the mount points for the factory cupholders:

or

Your tunnel height will determine which one you can get - since mine is a manual I have style in the first link.

I'm at work and can't look at the moment. Do the studs come out of the seat frame, and can they be mounted in the earlier seat? If so, I have a set. I replied my seat and still have the old seat.

Has anyone else done this? It was going fine til i found that 1 inch down there is a sheet of what i think to be an 1/8 inch peice of metal for support. Cutting out the foam is fine, but i dont know how i would go through the metal

its done.
so i cut the cloth first
made sure they fit
then transferred over the marks for the holes to the foam and drilled the holes
(quick tip) i went and bought a bi-metal hole saw, 3 in the package (20$).drilled out the top layer of foam and tore it out. found that the metal is not in fact solid OR FLAT. sorry for not having a pic but, where i put them there is a 1/2-3/4 in. hole and there is a ridge in the metal. it is possible to get done just be sure you have someone holding it securely. so i cut the metal and removed the scrap. last, cut some more foam for the cupholder to fit height wise and ripped that out. make sure the saw does not go all the way through.
so with the cloth back on, i inserted the holders
and put it back in its place
