1996 f150 build thread
And so it begins guys. Yesterday i started on my 1996 f150 build up/restoration and this will be the official thread of all the stuff i do as i will try and keep pictures coming in step by step.
The list to do for the most part:
This is just a list of a few things i am going to do, there is also a few things to replace in the interior, a front fender. Like i said just little stuff thats easily forgettable
My truck came off the road with 197,xxx miles on it, and its just not worth it to me to sell it so i am going to take my time, and make my truck what ive always wanted it to be
check out these pictures of what i have done so far. So far ive torched the bed bolts out (i wouldn't recommend because the slag melts thru the bed.) and blocked it up to get to the bolts to cut them (bastards are stuck in there so i have to get the sawzall out)
Tomorrow im going to cut the bolts and build a frame to place my bed on
The list to do for the most part:
- remove bed
- sand blast frame
- por15 the frame
- topcoat the por with paint
- flip over bed from donor truck and por15 the bottom of that
- gear and lock rear end (probably 3.73)
- pull out 302
- do mild build on 351w (heads cam intake)
- do something to fix dented roof (probably cut roof off of a donor truck)
- do all body work
- paint (black is the color of choice as of now, may be subject to change)
- before paint do 3"/5" drop
- 18"wheels and low pro tires

just a quick update here before i go to work today. Today me and my dad built a bed frame so i can take my bed off and not put it on the ground because i heard they bow easily, also because i dont trust saw horses too much. hopefully tomorrow or tuesday ill have the bed off and ill probably pull the front tank too because that one is shot.
this is my bed frame. 8 2x4s and some scraps i had laying around. next time im going to buy 10 2x4s lol

hey guys check this out, this is the parts truck i bought for 400 bucks. im only going to use the bed off it on my black truck, then im going to throw a little money into it to get it going again and use it as a weekend wheeler because its 4x4! Its a litte rotted but itll do for a woods beater.

hey guys, yesterday i brought home my parts truck. I am stuck in the middle of whether to fix it up and be into it for like a grand and drive it this winter, or part it out and get my money back. But let me tell ya it was a major pain in the *** getting it home yesterday, we blew out 2 tires on the trailer within a 5 mile trip . i was fuming. NEVER use a trailer with steel belted radials i guess...
