Does it still give you the code for no movement detected? How about the injectors - did you check them yet?

I often wondered this... when you check for codes, the first thing the computer does is charge all the solenoids, etc. before it starts flashing any codes. If you get 33 from that, how the heck can the computer tell? Wouldn't you have to have exhaust flow to help push the valve open, along with vacuum? There are neither of those with a KOEO test. I never did understand how the computer could come up with that code in that situation...

The EGR doesn't need the exhaust to push it open, it only needs vacuum to pull it open. There's some vacuum reserve in the vacuum canister.

Alright well I have now replaced the EGR Valve, The Solenoid and the, postion switch on top of the EGR valve and it still will not run right same codes as before. I tried spraying some carb cleaner around to check for vacuum leaks and could nto get a change in idle... So i am stumped need help I am about to lose my hair.

If the 302 setup is anything like my 300 I6 be sure to check for PIP errors... I didn't get any PIP trouble codes until I un-stuck the EGR valve and got it working. Once that was fixed I discovered the PIP error which is the inductive pickup?. If it's the same as mine, that inductive pickup also tells the computer when to fire the fuel injectors. Mine was so erratic it had the computer shutting off the fuel pumps effectly killing the engine.

See my LONG first post about 3 days under the hood-from-hell.

Jam848505, Save your hair while you still can. Pull codes let us know the year, engine, tranny, and any repairs of mods that you've made to your truck. Then start your own thread and you'll get a better response.

Eken,

i stayed on dante's thread because EVERYTHING is the same... i think. its a 5.0 302 v8 all original. i have 240 k on it, but the problems are identical. ive never been able to pull codes. i've tried the home test, and also had it hooked up on OBD 1. i could access my computer info, but it wouldnt pull out any codes....im not sure what was going on. the home test i did came back with an egr code, so i swapped that out. im wondering if its IAC.... my hair is long gone from this thing. it just sits....i hate it cause i know there is so much potential.
