Default Pulling Engine

I am pulling the engine on my 95 F150 with a the 5.0 in it. Just wondering do I have to disconnect the torque coverter from the engine to lift it out of the truck?

Thanks in advanced.

You might check the engine R&R procedure in one of the shop manuals like a Haynes or Chiltons and see what they recommend.

If you're really pressed for space with the exterior bolts up on the top of the bell housing pulling the access panel on the transmission hump could end up giving you a better angle of attack.

I didn't when I pulled the engine out of my truck. The main thing is when you reinstall your engine, push the torque converter as far in as you can get it so you can rotate it and align it with the bolt holes on the flywheel upon reinstallation.

Dont need to but recommended. Its only 4 bolts, for piece of mind. It is possible to mess the snout on converter or rip seal in pump. Not to mention make it light on tail end of motor. But definitely has to come off to put motor back in. Make sure converter is pushed in and have snout gears engaged.. To help ease motor installation, once converter is in tranny put studs at 12-3-6-9 and holes on flexplate in same position..
