Default charging problems

okay im not sure if anyone else has this but here goes
my alternator is not charging when i drive pretty normal but it does start charging if i drive over 2500 rpms so im thinking the voltage regulator or just a very messed up alternator or maybe the last person to own this truck messed up the harness

any ideas?
i already asked the local auto store ad they told me to look if the belt was slipping... but i doubt that

You might just have broken wires under the insulation or in the terminal end.

My buddy had a similar problem with his 40th aniversary edition mustang. He found a faulty ground and that fixed it. Geta voltage meter and start back tracking.
