Default Changing rear axle assembly

I'm looking at used rear axle assemblies to install in my 94 f150. Looking at the used parts lists, they list automatic / manual transmission as well as the engine size. Do any of those factors make a difference? That is, mine is a 5 speed, could I replace it with one that came from an automatic? Does it have to be the same engine as well?
Thanks,
Jon

im pretty sure it dont matter if its auto or manual, as long as its from a bronco or 150. I am tackling the same thing next week.

I think the autos have lower gear ratios than the manual tranny ones. Check the tag if you still have it, on the rear end housing. There should be a ratio on it. You should be at least one point higher or lower than the front one (if 4wd).This prevents torque wind up when in 4w. Good luck.

Yes, you can replace it with the rear end from either an auto or a manual, engine size does not make a difference either.
