WD-40, Rust Freeze, PB anything that will help you loosen up the crud in there.

Before you cut it out, I had trouble with mine too. I talked to a mechanic and he said to push the filter and the line in together, THEN stick the tool in, THEN pull it apart. It should come out pretty easily. I laid down under my truck for 30 mins trying to push the tool in and then trying to seperate the line from the filter. Please try this before cutting it out. The bent "finger" is probably a rare instance.

I think you misunderstand what I meant. Cut the big part of the filter out of way. Tin snips will do. This way you can look at it real easy and see if there's dried mud ect.

yeah i understood that. don't think he did though. i didn't get time to today so ill try in the mornin. i think I'm gonna end up swapping everything that could be a culprit of my starting problem.. cuz i've ruled out the computer, ignition module, coil, and the fender relay. I'm gonna rewire from the coil to the relay or whatever that goes to.. and if that don't work I'm gonna pull the fuel pumps.. its confusing the hell outta me cuz it doesn't get spark when its not startin.. but if i cycle the key a few times it'll start right up and run for about 5-10 seconds and then die like its not gettin fuel.. so idk what it is.

That sounds exactly like a fuel problem, either your regulator is stuck or your check valve(s) in your pump(s) are bad and flowing right back into the tank. Did you do the fuel pressure check?

i checked pressure from front tank but just realized i didn't check the rear, it was right at about 32-34 and when i revved it it jumped to about 36-40 and if i held it at about 2k rpms it would go back down to 30.

Ok, now did it hold that pressure? If it sat for about 5 min did it still stay at those numbers? You got the pump pressure withing spec atleast
