Default Broke a waterpump bolt. How do I get it out???

Finally found the source of my coolant issue, I think. While trying to fix my truck, I broke a bolt trying to get the water pump off my 5.0L. Any ideas on how to get it out? I tried a vice grip after smacking the bolt with a hammer. I gave up after a few attempts because it's cold and I'm tried of working on it for the day.

use some penatrating oil and throw some heat on it with a torch.

I thought about that. I should apply heat to the block area, right? Not the timing cover?

I think every youtube vid of water pump I've seen mentions that most likely these bolts are rusted and are a pain in the butt to get out.

use a stud remover first since you have the shank left. and use pbblaster.

Lisle 19250 Stuck Bolt, Nut and Stud Remover Set - 6 Piece

sears sells them and so does amazon. autoparts stores might have them as well.

i might suggest that you also remove the timing cover before you apply heat to the stud as well.

I doubt the bolt is stuck in the block too badly as compared to being stuck in the timing cover. The disimilar metals cause a type of corrosion that locks the aluminum and steel together inside the timing cover.
You see the same thing on alternator bolts a lot.
Anyway if you CAN get the timing cover off the bolt, the bolt will probably come out of the block easier.

I've decided I'm going to have to take the timing cover off the get the bolt out. And I don't think the timing cover will come off of that bolt very well, so I'm going to buy a new timing cover and do what it takes to get the old one off.

As for bolts, I cannot find a bolt set for a water pump. I only really need the one, but I may as well replace them all. But I can't find a set. The one that broke is the bolt that has a stud that the PS and AC bracket use so I can't use a regular bolt. Help me find one!!!
