I recently acquired a 1989 F150 4x4. Evidently either the blower motor resistor went out or the switch went bad or something, so the PO cut the wires going to the blower motor and put a toggle switch in between hot and ground so just have high fan speed.
I replaced the resistor, but now I can't figure out how to connect the blower motor back.
The blower motor has a red and black wire coming out of it.
I found 2 wires together in a plug near the blower hanging loose that I suspected was the original wiring. one is Orange/Green and the other is Green/Orange. It has 12V between them when I turn on the vent, but when I tried connecting them to the blower nothing happened and the 12v went away, but nothing blew.
Any thoughts or ideas to get this back to normal?

Google the wiring diagram and start rebuilding.... if it's anything like around here, there's not much in the way of '89s in the junkyard to rob from anymore.

I tried to find a wiring diagram before I posted here but didn't have any luck. I guess I just need to keep looking.

Try calling some local junk yards or pull a part places, find one that has some f150s that are 91-87 and just go out there. You could then either take pictures of the wiring or grab what you are missing and put it in.

I managed to find some pictures online and I am hooking it back up correctly. There is obviously some reason that the PO did this, so since I replaced the resistor already, could the fan speed switch be bad and that's what causing the voltage to disappear, which I'm guessing is tripping the breaker.
