Default Bad computer?????

my buddy has a 1995 Mustang GT with the 5.0 HO motor in it. It won't start, and there is no spark, no fuel pump purge when you turn the key and has a new countinous control relay box in it. When I hook up my Ford OBDI code reader to it it doesn't show any codes as it has in the past, hell it won't even pick anything up. the reader ain't broken cause it still works in my truck. Question is, is it the computer or could it be the distributor pickup (pip).

Does it crank at all? Have you guys checked the new relay? Anything else new that involves wiring? Could be a short within the new wiring.

checked all the wires to the coil, pip in the distributor, fuel pump pigtail (new fuel pump) A/C removed, relays work cause they click over. But if im not getting a reading on the computer what so ever and the pump don't purge and there is absolutely no spark I think that It could be the EEC. Do you know if i can use an EEC out of an explorer, f150 etc.

This really more of an "off-topic" thing than a "1987-1996 F150" thing...just saying.....

Yes I know, however I have a 1995 F150 and this is my posting grounds and I'm helping a friend, in addition these guys would know more about the 87-95 302 then any other listing. the motor is the same as the F150's soo with that being said, I think that it is reasonably placed. but thankyou for the heads up. Nice truck by the way

A lot of these guys post over there too. Just saying something before someone else sees it in the wrong section and moves it anyway. Probably won't happen, but like you said its just a heads up. And you said its a HO right? If I remember correctly the electronics will be slightly different from a regular 302 I think MAF instead of MAP (not sure about that one). Maybe its just the firing order...And thank you.

Ya, I would say no to the Explorer or F150 ECU to the Stang. Check your junkyards for an ECU. I know aftermarket is in the $300+ range for a new ECU.

Someone is eventually gonna come on here and say it...you can look for a reman EEC and if it doesn't fix it most places will take it back and refund your money.

Alright I didn't know they'll take it back, but why I was suggesting the F150's with the 302 is because they are similar enough that problems can be related, however it is the HO which is infact a different firing order and it DOES have a MAF and no MAP. I know that the explorers came with a 302 HO too and some even came with the Gt40 heads from factory if im not mistaken. I'm sure I can find something but if not then I'll tell him to get a reman one.

That's right, I forgot the Explorers came with a 5.0L and they had MAF, I had a 4.0L so I didn't think of it much.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to give it a try if you got one for free or really cheap. But I would wait until someone else with more information than I do comes in and gives their take on this.
