Default Hello Noob here

Well first let me say hello and you guys are some smart sons of bitches when it comes to these trucks which is why I had to register. I recently aquired an 87 F150 that was originally a 302 Fuel Injected but the previous owner decided to cut the old harness and change the engine to a carburated version. I received the truck without a motor and since built and out in a 302 Fuel Injected. Some of you know where this is going. Hres my list of questions

1: Fuel system I have rehooked all the original lines but what do I need to do to get the system pressurized. I hear there is an inertia switch if ther is where? also can I test the pump and relays to see if they work

2: Next who knows the hook up for coolant lines which I think I got hooked right. But vacuumn lines are another issue

3: I have most of the harness spliced back together except for the ICV the engine coolant sensors and any sensor that did not have wires but was direct to the block or what have you. So who knows where to find a new harness cause I think to find the sensors is going to be impossible.

4. I have installed a new starter solenoid new battery and a used starter. Thew engine cranks very weak with a full charge. My guess is try a differnet starter but could it be anything else and all connections are good as well

Yes I have checked all the junkyards around me and have been searching online forever but Im ready to get this thing fired up.

Thanks in advance for any answers here are some pics of the project.

Well as an update I bought an 87 Bronco running but needed a rear diff as a donor veichle for this truck. I have swapped out the engine harness and starter. I have also rewired the fuel pump. When I turn the key the motor cranks good I have good spark but no fuel. I have fuel at the injectors but none are spraying. I just ordered a Fuel pressure tester and noid light to diagnose what it could be. A question that just came up

If the system has fuel at the rails but is not staying pressurized will the injectors fail. I find it weird that the motor would not even start if the system is not pressurized cause I know there is fuel at the rails.

You sound like you are headed in the right direction. Did you switch the whole engine harness or splice in what was missing? If, once you get hte noid light you are missing injector pulse let us know and I will get a wiring diagram and fax it to you if you want. Sounds like an ECM problem or a ground problem on the injectors. What is the fuel pressure? Does the fuel pressure fall off fast once the key is off........I see you ordered a fuel pressure gauge so just post up when ya get it.

Yeah I willpost what I find. I do think that the ground problem with the injectors is what I will find. To tell you the truth I dont even know how the injectors are grounded. But if the system is losing pressure wont I at least get some sort of combustion? Cause when I crank I get nothing at all. And yeah I replaced the whole harness

I will look tomorrow and find where they are grounded. They do go to a common ground that I think is either on the intake or the firewall.

OK Here goes. The # 1 4 5 8 injectors are grounded on pin 58. injectors 2 3 6 7 are grounded on pin 59. They have a common power on 37 and 57. the computer grounds the injectors to fire them. Might want to check the EEC relay. It is located at the air cleaner support bracket left hand side of the engine compartment. The fuel pump relay is right next to it. I was talking with my tuner he says you can have spark but no injector pulse if the relay is bad or missing.
