auto locking hubs? How do they work?

i would go with the premium locking hub. but you should be able to get this at your local auto parts store or they can order it for you. they range from about 90$ to 120$ for the premium. if you have auto locking hubs now you will have to buy a conversion kit for manual hubs for like $20

yes the auto hubs lock in as soon as you shift the transfer case into 4x4 and start driving, to unlock them you shift into 2 wd and reverse directions for a few feet.
my old 93 explorer was like that and it seemed to work fine, although if i was in 2wd and had not reversed to unlock the hubs, the speedo needle would bounce around a bit, not sure why it did that, but as soon as i reversed to unlock the hubs, the speedo was normal.

i bought my mile marker 104 premium hubs off summit for 65 and they work great! i bought the conversion kit but returned it becuase my truck already had the special nuts and washer installed.
