Default Anyone running 255/70/15 on stock 7.5" rims?

Father recently passed and left me his '96 xlt. Has stock wheels with 235/75/15 tires. Picked up a different set of stock 7.5" rims and Im seeking a new set of tires for them. 255/70/15 tires are what I have in mind. Just want to make sure they will be a good fit.

Yes, they'll fit fine. I have the same exact rims and was going to put 265/75/15s on them, however when they get dirty, I hate cleaning them!

I'm going to switch back to my stock steelies (15x7) and put the same 265/75/15s on them.

The only difference I can see between mine and yours in regards to the tire fit is I have a leveling kit on mine. I'm not sure if you'd have rubbing issues in the front or not.

I like your stock wheels also, tried to find a set but all I could come across was some rust buckets.

Ford puts 265 on a 7.5 rim, so your 255 will be fine. The issue, as others have suggested, is the offset from center of the mounting surface. It looks like factory option for 235/70R15 was 7.5x15 with an 8mm negative offset. Base was 215/75R15 on 6x15 zero offset.
