Just scored a used Rotunda breakout box on ebay for $51 , so hopefully I will have that in a few days for when I need it.
Off to see if I can grab a used PCM at the Pick a Part for $25.00 and see what happens when I plug that in.

I`ve been looking for a breakout box also. I don`t need one so far but would like to have one just for kicks. How many pins does it have? How many extra connection did you get with it? Most people don`t even know what a breakout box is.

Every now and then a BOB shows up on craigslist or ebay and I think even OTC still sells them. Great buy for 51... If you ever want to get rid of it, let me lnow. Its a nice piece to have.

It is for the 60 pin EEC IV PCM's, it does not have any adapters, but my pickup is the only vehicle I have older than 96, for all the rest I use my Autotap computer interface.

It looks in rough shape but I can fix it if it has a couple issues.
Most of them I saw used were $200 + but I think they were in great shape and had adapters for a variety of ford vehicles.

At least I will be able to follow the diagnostic charts on the truck now. This is the first time this truck has ever had a CEL issue, so I had not had to do any troubleshooting on it like this before.

Well here is another chart that confuses me regarding the codes on my PCM.
My truck is an auto with a E4OD trans, made and bought in Virginia. I am the only owner. I do not recall ever putting it in a shop, I never even took it in for any of the recalls.
My PCM has F3TF - VA on it.
The list below shows like I found the other day, that the code means I have a manual trans with Calif emissions standards

I think I should have the F3TF - ZA for the auto with E4OD

Makes me wonder which exact one I should try to acquire.

I had a F2TF AXA in my hand earlier today out of a 92, but didn't buy it for fear it would not work, but when I search for 93 PCM's it shows on the list here as well. This list was off a website for an auto yard north of me called M and M auto parts, pretty big junkyard of I 95 in Stafford county.

I wonder if I should go get, I already went to the trouble of pulling it, any body care to guess if it would work for me? The truck it came out of looked to be very similar to mine as far as accessories, it just had power windows and a nicer interior.

Google your truck and pmc and the page will list a bunch of e-bay sellers that are selling your computer. Check a few of them just to cross reference the the numbers.

I just did and every one refers to my computer ID as a Calif Manual trans computer. The thread I originally posted in Engines came up as the 6th result btw

I am sitting here trying to remember when in the last 20 years my OD button quit working on the end of the shift lever. I thought it was just getting old and it quit, but now I am trying to remember how my original PCM must have been swapped for the one thats in there now, as I do not think it is the original and believe my OD button quit working the day my truck had this PCM put in it. My brother used it for a few months around ten years ago and had his shady neighbor put some of the worst brake components I have ever had the misery to drive on it as thanks for me letting him work out of it for months. I wonder if that idiot swapped out my PCM to solve some issue he had in his shop while it was there
I am pretty sure I do not want a Calif Manual trans PCM, I am leaning towards trying the one at the pick a part (F2TF-AXA) I pulled as that truck was pretty close to mine, or trying to get the F3TF-ZA which by the charts I have found seems to be the right fit.

Of course I am looking forward to getting the BOB so I can make sure I dont have a solenoid or relay loading down the voltage tap and causing all the issues. Hopefully by this weekend I can be checking those out per the diagnostic flow chart

Well I found out that Autozone will take your VIN, your trucks mileage and age and program a prom for your computer to match, so they may be ableto tell what PCM I had before I ended up with a Calif Manual trans one.

Got the BOB, checked the trans solenoid circuit failures tonight to try to verify the failed PCM diagnosis. Found out that all the wiring is as it should be, checked the coil resistance of each of the five solenoids the PCM is controlling. 4 of them were at 20.0 ohms, but the EPC solenoid was at 4.0?

I am trying now to confirm if that is low and what could have loaded down the PCM voltage and may have caused the failure. Ran out of time tonight, I've got to change the oil in my sons car as he heading off on a roadtrip tomorrow and watch the draft with the kids. If anyone has the electronic specs for the Pressure Regulating Solnoid in an E4OD I would appreciate it.
