Nah, its the door strikers, if you dont slam it, it wont latch all the way onto the striker.

That's because the hinge pin bushings are worn out. Grab the open door and lift it, if you feel play the bushings are shot.

I do put my coffee on the dash.

I just have a mug with a wide bottom to set on the dash, never spills or falls.

Its not a good picture but I used the top of an old console and cut it to fit the top of my dash to mount a vacuum gauge and to hold water bottles or small cups. I also have a two cup holder attached to the bench seat on the floor.

His entire truck could defy the laws of physics though, you could throw a bottle of soda out the window, and it would end up in the bed, anti litter truck, haha
I really miss that ability ( the coffee mug and tossing the can into the box) that my old '91 allowed. Not moving at the moment (broken column key linkage). Nothing like setting the coffee mug on the dash, cracking the smoke window, and driving it anywhere on a cold fall morning. Since we finished up with harvest early maybe I'll get around to fixing the key linkage.
