Default Newbie has a XMSN Question

I am thinking I am having a xmsn issue but I can't figure out what type of xmsn is in the truck. The door code is for a 4R70W but if I get down and look at the pan for it, it looks like the E40D. Am I missing something or am I a retard and don't know what I am looking at?

BTW it's my new truck 1992 F-150 5.8L

Looking for some help please.

Wow... talking a bout the E40D and the 4R70W and we don't know what "xmsn" means.

xmsn = transmission

Guess being in the Army for 17 years I forget that people may not understand acronyms for things.

I knew that, I just didn't have a proven answer for you. Everyone says these trucks didn't come with the 4R70W transmission even though the door code says they did. It should be the E4OD.

I know enough acronyms to fill a large pamphlet, just for Fords. Your's, I've yet to see after almost 3k posts. Granted, "xmsn" is not much of a stretch for "transmission", just a little rare around here! I think "ignorant" would be more applicable than "stupid". Like "your ignorant as to which xmsn you have". Or I was ignorant as to what "xmsn" meant. I was pretty sure, but wanted clarification.

No big deal........Anyway. thanks for your 17 years of service! It is appreciated.

So, what issues w/ your "xmsn" are you having? To begin w/, it's intigrated w/ the ECU, so Error code scans, may prove helpful. How many miles on it?

Well now we are done with the petty stuff.

The transmission seems to be slipping at speed (55-60mph). I do not believe it has been worked on before but I can't be sure. The truck has 167K on it. I am not sure on the ECU. This is the first F150 I have owned and I am still learning on the codes and retrieving them. I am learning this as I try to fix things. All in all this truck has very minor issues, other than the transmission the power steering has a minor leak and I think that there is a small oil leak but it could be from a oil change or some maintenance that has been performed a while back.

How can I tell about the ECU or even which transmission I have?
