Airbag Code 44
My airbag light started blinking a code 44, so I looked it up and it said "Right primary crash sensor not mounted to vehicle properly. I read about a couple other guys that had this code and found the sensor dangling by its wires. I took my grill off and found the sensor; it was bolted firmly where it was supposed to be, but for good measure I took off the battery, unbolted it, and put it back on. The code still didn't go away, so I had my buddy try to clear it on his scanner to see if it would stay away. I came right back on, so he told me to take it back off and clean the sensor and sensor bracket to see if it's a grounding issue. I'm thinking I'm going to have to go to the junkyard and gamble on a "new" sensor to work. I've checked all of the visible wires, unplugged and greased electrical connectors, and checked my horn and cruise control to make sure it wasn't a clockspring. Can anyone think of anything else to try, or does anyone know how I can check this sensor and a junkyard sensor with a multimeter? Thanks!

Well I tried cleaning the bracket today and it didn't help. I didn't think it grounded through the bracket anyway. Does anyone have any other ideas before I go to the junkyard and hope I get lucky and find one that's good?

It's a Canadian thing eh!
The airbag module may be failing, here is a handy test that may help determine the cause. The airbag module is under the dash on the drivers side ext to the steering column. Test the resistance between those 2 pins and if the resistnace is more than 2 ohms, the module is likely bad. Also measure the resistance between the ground plug of the sensor and the body on a good existing ground, resistance should be less than 2 ohms.

I just got a multimeter last night. I've been meaning to get one for a while, but this was finally my excuse to buy one. Hopefully I'll be able to test that tonight. If the airbag module tests good I'll see about getting a junkyard sensor, but does anyone know how to to test if the junkyard one works before I get it? And if it is the module, is that a part I'd buy new or is that a junkyard part too?

I hate it when people don't follow up; for anyone's future reference that finds this thread in a search, I went to a junkyard and found the sensor for 20 bucks, bolted it on, and all was well.
