Question Transmission issues............

1994 F150 XLT 4x4 , has OD.

Issue is, went on a trip a few years back , about 1500 miles round trip, no issues going there, but on the way back I had a 850 pound ATV in the back, I am sure I over heated it as it was summer, and I pulled over and it was leaking from the ( I am guessing front seal ).

Every since then it has been on and off. The trans may go months working perfect, especially in winter. Then summer comes and I get really hard shifts, not ones slipping into gear, but almost like you had a shift kit in it set to the highest setting. I usually have to let off the gas to let it shift softer as I am sick of changing U Joints.

Also if I dare take it to far in the summer it will start to leak again, where as in the winter I can go 200 miles non stop and no leaks.

Now I would figure if the trans was slipping it would be all the time. I know the seal is buggered, but could the Trans cooler be plugged up, I have it going through a heavy duty rad and external cooler as it was used for pulling a 5th wheel many many years ago. Or is the pump over heating and losing pressure etc.

I am not really familiar with Ford Transmissions anymore, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also what is a normal rebuild worth on these transmission. I am guessing this is the electronic OD version if there is such a thing back then. Been told way to many stories.
