96 F150 - Cruise Control Recall
Hi Guys -
I recently got a beautiful 96 F150 4x4 with Eddie Bauer pkg.
I read an article about 90's cruise control recall and it says that there is a deactivation switch on the master cylinder that shorts out and can catch on fire. I am not sure whether my truck has been repaired.
Here are my questions.
1. How can I find if this has been fixed?
2. If not, can I still get this fixed by Ford for free?
3. Or am I too sensitive? So should I just ignore as the truck has not had a fire so far?
Thanks much.

99 expy
I took in my 99 expy for the recall, and they had the part ready and changed it there in the drop off area, I was in and out in under 5 min!! it's just a harness they plug in that has a fuse built into it, so if the system does get hot it pops the fuse to cut power before it gets to the point of being a fire.

96 F150 Cruise Control Recall
Hi -
I checked my truck and has the blue sticker and orange sticker like yours. Does that mean the truck has been repaired??
I took the truck dealer too. They said there is no "outstanding field service actions" but can't tell whether the truck has been through recall repair.
Thanks

If your worried about it, just drop by the local ford dealer and give em your vin number, then they can look up if it has been replaced. Thats what i did, and im glad i did because of the major risk. But the tags probably mean that the fuse was installed, mine has them too... but you can never be too sure

Thank you all.
I ran the VIN at the dealership but they told me that they cannot tell whether it has been replaced. Their report (OASIS) does not show the service history either.....

Rest assured, if you have the harness like mine, that runs between the master cylinder and old plug: It's not gonna set fire to your house while you sleep.
