Thanks. The surgery fixed a huge problem that I had no idea was festering. The recovery will take a while and I am still on partial meds but we'll see how it goes.

It definitely gets your attention and makes you appreciate everything a lot more.

Get better soon! I have some bad back issues myself and it sucks to be down and out. Suggestion for you in the downtime: research and read as much as possible about the efi system on your truck. When you finally get back to work on it, the problem will be that much easier to spot.

To all, thanks for the suggestions. I found that it was the pickup coil in the distributor. It was actually cheaper to buy and install a rebuilt distributor rather than get the individual parts. Go figure.

The truck has however started throwing codes and now the check engine light is on so as soon as I can, I will test it and see what is up. These recent items don't seem to change how it drives so I am not sure what is up now.

I'll post when I have more info.

im having similar issues. i replaced everything besides the dizzy pickup and body, could having a hotter ignition system (full new MSD everything) overload o burn out other, older, stock parts?
