You should go through the thread again to figure out how to read your codes. A lot of us have tried to read engine codes and had the same thing happen before. If you're not getting any flash codes then some connection isn't being made correctly. Even if nothing's wrong, it throws a code that indicates nothing's wrong.

If you have replaced all of that, it is probably your Distributor Pickup Coil. Those were common problems on Fords. I had to replace mine, too. It is the round coil that is at the base of the distributor shaft inside the distributor. You have to take the distributor out and disassemble it to replace. If you are not a mechanic, you might want to take it somewhere, as this is not a job for the un-mechanically inclined. (Not slamming your abilities). Keep us posted.

My biggest challenge was pulling the distributor gear. The varnish accumulated made it difficult to pull - I ended up breaking the gear, so ended up buying a new distributor anyway, which came with the pickup already installed.

Would be cautious over blindly replacing this pickup sensor part - if you can't pull codes, there may be something wrong with the computer itself. Suggest this needs to be figured out first.

Good luck - and keep us posted.

i had a similar problem back in 97 when my 1995 f150 xlt was still owned by my dad. i "borrowed" it to go visit my gf up in north jersey (i live in central nj.) long story short i had pulled onto the turnpike entrance to get home and the truck just died. she would start and run but as soon as i hit the gas she would shut off. turned out that i had to pull the computer sensor clip out of the top of the air intake. she ran like a champ until my dad noticed the 'check engine' light a month later. give that a shot. its probably the maf sensor i'm sure someone will correct me.
