95 F-150 4.9L just died. No spark.
So, I went to my car lot to pick my sister up today and my F-150 took a crap on me. Right as I pulled into the driveway, it just died on me. I thought for a second that I might have killed it with too much clutch, but it refused to start. Fuel pump was working, so I went on to the coil wire, which was completely disintegrated. The contacts just crumbled when I took it off, so I went down to the local auto parts store and got a set of wires. Came back and I still had nothing, so I checked for spark at the coil, zip.
Checked the fuses and they were OK. So, what can cause this? Coil, pickup coil, or electronic ignition? Which one would you start with? I am thinking that the coil may have burned up with the bad contact from the wire.

The 1996 F150 4.9L Ignition Control Module is remote mounted as he ^ said and
the 1987 F150 4.9L Ignition Control Module is distributor mounted.
I learned something new today.
Ignition Control Module ICM is also known as: TFI
FYI
The distributor mounted Module requires a 7/32" thin-wall socket
or a
Ford Ignition Module Tool to remove the two small hex retainer bolts.
Picture of my 1987 F-150 4.9L ICM mounted on side of distributor if anyone else has a problem with their ICM on their older truck.

Well, whatever it is, it's based on heat. The truck fired right up today, but died again 15 miles down the road. Let it cool off on the trailer going home and it fired right up again. I have the fenderwell mounted Ignition module BTW, seems like it's in a cool place, no heat source.

Take the cap off distributor and it should be rite under the rotor
*This sensor becomes heat sensitive over time*

It was the ignition control module. Fired it up and let it idle till it died, plugged in a new coil and it did nothing. Plugged in the ICM and it fired right up. Thanks guys.
