Default 94 F150 300cid E4OD to manual trans conversion question?

Hi,

I have a 9 f150 300cid with a e40d automatic transmission that is giving me issues right now. I also have a wrecked 96 f150 with a manual tranny and all the stuff I would need to convert my 94 over to standard transmission. I will also add the my 94 has a brand new long block from Ford in it and that is why I am wanting to keep my 94 going.

Do you guys think there will be anything really difficult about this swap over? Will the flywheel work off the 96 even though it's a 5.0 engine? Will I possibly have to lengthen or cut the driveshaft? Is the clutch system hydraulic or is it a cable? I can easily swap out the hydraulic system if it has that and the clutch and break pedal assembly. I am also concerned about ecm connections from one tranny to the other....What do you guys think?

Thanks,
Mike

Yes, you should have no problems, just swap everything associated with the stick. I cant wait to find a donor truck to do the same. Oh yea, the tunnel plates are removable so you dont have to cut a hole in the auto trans plate, just unbolt the man trans plate and replace.

same fly wheel . . . of an auto to manual ? the fly wheel has to be a manual setup flywheel with the surfaced ring for the clutch the autos just have teath . . . unless your talking about the other truck that is a manual than yeah that fly wheel and just conver all the other parts over like was said the floor plate bolts in but depends if your truck already has the hole in it meaning far as the 87s autos where coloum shift so it wasnt cut out like the manuals and maual is the way to go i have a 302 4 speed and i wont ever own a auto to much problems

you will need the brake pedle assem and the cyl mounts to the fire wall there will be a nock out and little dimmples for the screws. . . and you should be good like there are small things like the clutch safty switch depending how smart ford is if they used a universal harness which i doubt you might have to tap it into the ignition switch depending if u want it lol

good luck

I was going to try and use the flywheel off the 5.0 on the 96 model f150 but use it on the 300cid inline 6 cylinder which is in the 94 model. I do understand and know that the manual flywheel is different then the auto one, I was just wondering if the 5.0 flywheel would work on the 300 I6?

If it won't I can't just purchase a new one from Napa for around 75.00 bucks, and I will also go back together with a new clutch kit and call it a day. Then my junkie e4od will go to the recycle bin!

Does the automatic trucks normally have different rear end gear ratio's versis the manual trucks?

the auto and manual fly wheel are the same, but the fly wheel off the 5.0 is a different balance than the 300 so you must use a fly wheel off a 300, and the ratio should work they used the same rear end in both manual and auto
