94-96 5.0 for towing
I'm looking for a 94-96 short box, reg cab, 5.0 w/5spd that will occasionally be used to tow my 91 Mustang. Will it be able to tow such a load without really working the hell outta the truck(16ft trailer btw)? I had a 95 5.0 with auto trans and all I ever towed was a small boat so I don't know what these trucks can do. I'd rather check with peoples experience rather then look at the towing capacity.

Ya should be fine Fords can pull anything as long as the tongue weight is not more than the truck can handle. a good clutch should be used, and you might have to feather the clutch a little more to get going.

Your truck should handle it fine, just remember to stay out of 5th unless the ground is level or down hill. Depending on how many miles you have you might want a new clutch before long. Weigh the trailer, truck combo loaded and truck alone to determine if you need a weight distributing hitch. This will help keep the front of the truck loaded for better steering response, do not shift the load back to keep from bottoming out the rear end of the truck, you should have between 10 and 15 percent of the total trailer weight on the tongue for a tag trailer.
