Don't buy a kit... Everything is 100% bolt up, on the front end and on the transmission.
I know this, well because I did it.
You will need a 4wd front end, basically just the assembly. I used the original 2wd coils, brackets and even the tie rod steering.
For the transmission, you'll need a 4wd tranny, obviously, a transfer case, and a crossmember as the 2wd and 4wd are different, with the 4wd cm allowing space for the front driveshaft. If you have any questions, just shoot me a pm and I'd be glad to help you.

find a cheap 4x4 truck and swap over all the 4x4 stuff, you will be more ahead in the long run.

...and those Sundays of hard work and almost wanting to say "forget this sh*t" will make driving it when you are done that much more delightful because you know that you made that truck what you want it to be.
I say work it til the work is done.
