Could be a bad accumulator spring. The AOD-E/4r70W's are bad for the spring wearing or breaking. When tranny sends fluid into that accumulator, the spring softens the shift, but instead, with bad/broke spring it kinda slams in gear like a shift kit. My truck does it also.Friend of mine truck did same thing, and sure enough spring was broke when I rebuilt tranny for class project.(Tech School) Actually, I know this may sound crazy, but its better for the tranny. Instead of the clutches sliding into gear(slippign little), they instantly grab and son slide(slip) into gear.. Kinda like what a shift kit does..

check your transmission mount as well. sometimes if the mounts bad it will feel like its slamming into gear.

my mount does in fact have play in it but i didn't really think that could cause it. i guess i will have to look at that, b.c the trans has about 20,000 miles on it, i did the best u joints on the market my vacuum lines are all routed correctly, so i will check on a new mount. thank you very much
