Default 91 ' 300 inline 6 problems.

truck is a 91 , 4x4 with a 4spd .
was an automatic, someone put in a 4spd.

the plug thats on the top of the part that houses the two "butterfly valves" where the air intake hose mounts to. that plug was unplugged , so i plugged it in , and when i started the truck, the motor races, its like its getting more gas.

anyone know what this could be? also my truck dont have a muffler.
would this hurt any thing?

my smog pump is bad, the pulley wobbles around and the belt is getting looser , down in hawaii we dont have emissions so im just gonna take it off. im running a/c , so what belt would i need to get in order to not use the smog?

also i replaced the dizzy, plug wires and plugs. it sounds like it has a miss fire, sorta "lopes" , sounds like it has a bigger cam, doesnt sound normal.
is there even cams for these motors? or could it be a bad fuel injector?

also i have a aftermarket temp gauge "auto meter" it runs around the 150 - 200 mark , is that normal or hot??

also are these thing supposed to have a rev limiter?

ive never worked on one of these engines i just bought an old beater last night ..but i think i can answer your question here....... I bet you are talking about the idle air control valve......easy to change..i beleive there around 60 bucks ..that being said ive never worked on one of these 4.9s nor do i know if thats what you were talking about ..worked on plenty of 302s and they had the idle air control valves always going bad..i beleive you can clean them with carb cleaner...

nope no muffler needed in most cases as long as you get it away from the engine
