Default 89 rebuilding axels

I got some questions first things first tho. I have a 89' f150 4x4 i6. Ive got a 6in lift and im rolling on 35x12.5 r18. Im looking to rebuild the axels there still stock i just dont know what gears to put in it. Alota my buddys are saying 3.73 and ive been reading other threads but all i can really find is stuff on v8 engines. I was also contemplating on just throwing a new front and rear end in to her, and was thinkn a dana 44? anybody have input or suggestions thatd be great. Thanks for reading

Our trucks already have a Dana 44 and I would go with something that starts with 4 like 4.10 or something 3.73 might be a little sluggish still

ok ya i knew the front was a 44 i wasnt sure about the rear i couldnt find any info on it. and thats what i was afraid of was it being sluggish still, but also ill be driving it on the highway and to work once its all done and rebuilt so you dont think 4.10 would be to much? It just worries me dont wana spen all that money and not know what to expect. Im hoping someone here has had the same set up and let me know what they thought of there gear ratio. Because all my buddys are dodge lovers. pshhh

Btw are you in the army? I saw your airborne picture and was wondering. If so thank you so much for your service to our country. Me and my buddy are thinking about enlisting and was wondering if you liked the army and if you have any tips. Thanks

X2 the 8.8 Ford is plenty strong and has tons if aftermarket parts. The gears depend in what you are doing. The 6 cylinder is known for its torque so unless you are doing a lot of wheeling it towing there is no need to go crazy. I have 4.10 on my 2wd 5.0 that sees some weekend action. If you do much highway driving I would stick to the 3.75 with 4x4 and a 6cylinder.

to put a truck back to factory, with 35's you'll need a 3:30 gears. but they dont make them for a dana 44, i would go with 4:10's at the least, you could even go with a 4:56. that is the ideal ratio that offroaders use.

can you do me a favor???? can you measure your tires for me i'm thinging about getting the nittos too, but in a 38 on a 15 inch rim. and i've heard they are way smaller than the size they say. i was told the 38's are only 36 inches really, and the 35's were like true 33's.

i'll be running 38's with 4:88 gears and i've got a I6.

http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html

use that calc. it is the best one out there online.

thyou put the fatory specs in the first side then the new set up in the other and compare, the trick is to get it back to stock performance, unless your building it for a purpose ( like i am)
