Default just for the 4.9l guys

just thought i would give a hint on what a buddy and I have planned this summer.

we are designing and building a custom aluminum intake it will be a box design with a removeable lid kinda like some of the 5.0 mustangs have.
right now we are looking at some of the throttle bodies out there to use, i know we will not be using the stock 4.9l but maybe a 5.8l or we were looking into the single inlet mustang tb's

it will still be a 2 piece design that uses a factory gasket. have not decided yet to use the factory lower half of the intake or fab one up too.

but this is a little hint into our crazy minds
will post some mock drawings in a day or so.

any suggestions would be great

i've been planning on doing this for a year now, and i just got my hands on a good tig welder, my mig welds aluminum but not as fluid as a tig will.

i'm not expecting massive power gains with this,i know thats not going to happen
i just like the idea of having something different and off the wall,

i'm going to finish some of the draw up plans this weekend then scan them into the computer and post the pics on here next week.

I don't see the need to make the lower. It would be a pain and the factory one is workable.

gonna look cool but kill power in the whole range...

These 4.9L intakes are "Tuned" to the very restrictive head...

just an update, i've got the renderings loaded onto my computer friday when my new 252(500-4500rpm) cam kit from comp cams in for the 4.9 so i stopped everything and installed it.
better throttle response, and the power gets to the ground faster in 3rd and 4th running a np435 so second is my take off gear and is only good from about 8-10mph first is crawlin with the snails

AND ON ANOTHER NOTE, I FOUND A OVERSEAS COMPANY THAT WILL CAST THE STOCK 4.9 HEAD IN ALUMINUM THEN ALL THE MATING SURFACES ARE ARE CNC MACHINED, DONT HAVE A PRICE YET FROM THEM BUT THEY ARE REQUIRING 10 MIN. TO CAST THEM.

THEY WILL EVEN DO A BLOCK IN ALUMINUM.
