Just bought a 95 4x2 w/ 5.0 and 73 k mi. Truck runs fantastic except when climbing an incline motor seems to loose power. Is this common for this motor? Is there something i can do to improve it? Thanks

That's a really vague question. Of course its harder to go uphill. Are you having any specific symptoms? Does a downshift fix the power problem?

Yes, a down shift does take care of it, however the fuel pedal has to almost be on the floor. I am new to the 5.0 so i am not sure if it is normal to need that much pedal.

i got a pretty steep hill next to my house and iv never had to hit the floor to get it to go up it. it may be a little gunked up or something. clean the throttle body and sea foam it. also what gear ratio you got? that will make a huge difference.

like i said, the big thing might be your ratio. mine has 3.55 and its pretty good on hills and pulling, my friends has the 3.08 i believe and that thing is gutless.

im sure you already know, but you can find out by the axle code on your door jamb sticker. mine is 19 which is 3.55 non limited slip.

Thanks! I'll check it out. Is there a web site where I can check the code to get the ratio?
