Is a 68' 302 long block compatible to put in my 93' f-150 302?
had a cracked block this year in my 93' f-150 5.0. im replacing it with a 68' 302 out of a bronco(block and heads). it all seems to be going ok. i just want to double check the compatibility. any input would be appreciated.

be careful on your 68' 302. my dad has one in 68' mercury cougar and apparently ford marketed the last of the 289 as 302s. didnt realize this til we started the rebuild. you might want to look more into the engine part #s and make sure. some gaskets and bolt locations are a lil different than a 302. but if your lucky enough to have a 289 rebuild it as a 289 and get a top end from 87-93 mustang or crown vic for the efi.
thanks for your input guys. It seems i have ran into trouble.i think you were right SFD. my intake manifold fit the heads ok for the fuel delivery. but there isnt any port holes on the back of the 68 heads for the crossover pipe.Is it ok to get rid of this cross over pipe?
thats cross over pipe os your smog stuff, so if you get sniffed you will need it.

youll have to rebuild the heads anyways to allow for unleaded gas at least replace vavle seals. just get a set of e7te heads from junkards. good set is only $50-100 that way it has all the water jackets to keep intake cool.
ok so i bought a 68 'block and heads with out an oil pan and without out a timing chain and cover. i used my 93' oil pan and 93' timing chain and cover. ive ran into 3 issues. any input on them would be appreciated. 1st issue ive already dicussed and it looks like im just going to get rid of the smog pump since there isnt any where on the heads to hook it up. 2nd there isnt any hole for the dipstick tube in the block. so im guessing it must have been in the old oil pan or in the timing chain cover that didnt come with the block and heads.and the third issue is the oil pressure sending unit was on the top of the back side of the block. but there isnt a hole for one on the new 68'block
You have more issues than you have conveyed to us, perhaps you have taken care of them. First off, there are ignition issues, fuel issues, camshafts are different and thus the fireing orders. Perhaps I'm mistaken, and you are planning to drop a complete engine into your 93. Then, well, its still quite an undertaking.

the 93 timing cover wont work. get one for 85-86 mustang or cougar 5.0 and a fuel boss block off plate. get a dipstick for same years and install on timing cover. as far as oil pressure the 68 is at the front drivers side of block. their may be a plug there. remove it and install sender for 93 not 68. and did you ever check to see if it is a 302 or a 289?
ty guys for the info. I got the oil pressure going. I had already put the engine together When i realized there wasnt a hole for the dip stick so my 93 chain cover is on the 68' block. so it will have to do till i get a new cover with the dip stick hole. no i didnt check to see if was a 302 or 289. It was advertised as a 302 out of a 68' Bronco. Im definetely not a mechanic. I was surprised as hell that I even got the engine back together and fired up first crank! but there still are some issues. I had an idle problem before i did the swap.sometimes when its colder out it would idle really high and would not kick down even when it warmed up.it would do that for days then one morning be ok then then the next morning be high idling again.and i still have that problem. Also when i took it for a test drive there isnt any power and wants to stall when accelerator is pressed or going up a hill I lose power and it wants to stall. almost like running out of gas. Good ole Bill said "First off, there are ignition issues, fuel issues, camshafts are different and thus the fireing orders"? would it be running at all with these issues?
