Default 5.8l Power expectations

Hey all, i know on paper the 5.8 is supposed to be pumping out about 200hp. I was wondering what the typical performance of the 5.8l full size truck should be. I noticed yesterday that the truck tends to struggle to get to (and maintain) 65 mph. I hadnt really noticed it until i was driving home last night on the highway and was driving into a 18 mph headwind. The pedal wasnt floored but was pretty close to it. Is this normal since the truck itself was geared for 55 mph speeds, or do i need to diagnose a power loss problem? BTW, only performance upgrade is a k&n intake, engine is 5.8l jasper with only 650 miles on it. Thanks!

20 mph headwind shouldn't make a very noticeable difference

I live in Fargo and it's always windy here and I've never had an issue going 75-80. I've got 5.8l auto with 3.55 gears.

Hey guys, i ended up checking the timing and after doing it properly, found that it was nowhere near spec. I think that fixed it after a test drive. Thanks!

I second that about the Fargo wind! Although sometimes I feel the wind pushes my pickup side to side more than others on the road? Maybe I'm crazy
