Default 4x4 not working!!

I have manual lock hubs and lever shift on my '95 F150. When trying to engage 4x4 tbe light comes onbut then flashes off and im not sure if 4x4 is on. To continue the light no longer comes on and both high and low range wont engage, or might disengage at random. Also experiencing a pull to the right after trying to engage 4x4. What is my problem/how do i fix it?

I would guess the linkage from your 4X4 shift lever back to the transfer case is messed up somehow. This is not a good time to crawl under the truck and inspect after you been driving through stuff needing 4 wheel drive. But.

This is probably not an electrical problem. Just a mechanical problem. Just a small series of iron linkages connecting the 4X4 lever to the transfer case lever. I can't say offhand just what to look for, just something that isn't moving or hooked up properly. This is all assuming my guess is correct.
