Default 4x4 gas mileage with the 300 I6

Ok guys, honestly, I think I'm alone here cause no-one I know has a bullet proof engine like the 4.9L 300 I6.
I drive a 94 single cab long bed 355 gears and the M5R2 manual 5 spped. For the most part drive with hubs unlocked. 2500 rpm is usual shift point but the occasional 3000 - 3500 rpm shift is called for, seldom. I get a steady 9mpg?????????

Stop and go or highway? Tire pressure good? I have the I6 with the M5R2 and I get 17ish with a 70/30 mix. Hell, even towing I get better than 9MPG. Also, does it have dual fuel tanks? Mine was cross filling and made it appear that I was getting 10MPG.

Haven't driven mine far yet, maybe 60 miles since purchase, so I can't really give you an answer as to milage. But it certainly seems better than that, and I'm in a 93 4x4 automatic. Inside 4x4 shift linkage is disabled so it's perma-2wheel mode.

i've got a 92 300 I6 single cab 4x4 auto with a single tank 3.55 gears and i get about 12mpg thats all the time if i'm towing something, hualing something or going around in 4wheel drive its always about 12

i'm afraid to see what the monster is going to get when i get it done, it is a 95 300 I6 efi motor with an '79 4speed granny trans on 35's

OK. Most of my driving is in a small rural town. Stop and go. But when I travel to Dallas its 75 miles one way and I still only get 9mpg. I have done regular tune ups, as in i have had the truck 1.5 years and do tuneups every 6 months. I also change the air filter regular too. I run synthetic oil and change a fram filter twice per oil change. I am running a 2" lift with 31x10.5 15's.
So any help would be much appreciated. I am ready to do a cam as well cause I really cant pull much without trying to burn the clutch out.

Heh, what small town? I am in Kaufman, which is about 40 mile from Dallas. What air pressure is in the tires? The lack of towing power is weird too, my I6 is a stump puller even with 232K miles. Hell, I just recently towed a 4K lbs Chevy blazer and a 4K lbs chevy C1500 with ease. You might do some compression tests, see whats going on there.

Mine's a 88 4X4 I6 Mazda 5 speed reg cab 2.73 open gears and 31x10.5/15, I get 16 mixed driving. With it locked in I get about half that. Would'nt trade it for the newest shiniest truck on the planet tho!

I live north of Dallas 70 or 80 miles. Between Sherman and Gainesville. I have run 32, 35, and even 40 PSI in my tires. I never thought about blow by. But another thing is, I just fixed all my exhaust leaks today. That will probably help a lot.

Stump puller. I'm pissed. Really. I tried pulling a dead cottonwood half eroded out of a creek last week, nothing. Stopped me in my tracks. No gumpshun. What so ever. And as I added in the previous post I did just fix all the exhaust leaks. It seems to have a lil more pep to it now. Not a lot but a lil more

Ah, you are north, I am south of Dallas. These trucks aren't 0-60 monsters, but mine will damn sure pull almost anythiing. More towing power than my mom's 90 5.7L chevy.
