Default 408 stroker swap

Okay so I have a 408 stroker enroute to my house right now, I'm trying to decide what transmission would work best for what I have. It is rated at 430 hp so I need a transmission that can handle thst, I have been looking at the tko 500 and zf transmissions but I'm trying not to break the bank completely so I can get this motor dressed up and dropped in. Does anyone recommend anything specifically and what ratios shoukd I be looking for with a truck lifted on 35s with a 3:55 limited slip rear end... thank you, I will post pictures of the swap here as I go

Honestly you should change your rear gears because it will make a huge difference and compared to the motor and tranny stuff its cheap. I would suggest at least 4.10s if not possibly 4.56. It would be a shame to put the motor and trans in and the thing still be sluggish because the 3.55 gears are still in there. Just a thought.

Well I hope it all works out - that's a lot of coin to be shelling out.

I agree with others - the 3.55 gears are killing you with 35's. The ratios on the new transmission are going to make it even worse (compare them to an M5OD). Since you are already in 8k it probably would be a good idea to shell out another $500 for a re-gear. It looks like it is a 2WD so its only one axle LOL. Also be prepared to pony up for a custom driveshaft.

Ha ha ha laugh all you want it's a bad *** truck and yes I will look at re gearing, already thought about it... but I doubt anything will be sluggish with that 408

I wasn't bagging on your truck - more like laughing about how much easier it would be to re-gear since there's only one axle to re-gear. It's going to be a beast no matter what - and gearing is a personal choice depending on how you drive it. Good luck with the build. Would love to see a thread about it when it all comes together!

Roger that man, I will definitely post pics when I start. I get home from my deployment mid July so I'll start immiediately, been too long since I've turned some wrenches.
