nortmally for an explorer its 3.73 for off road use but the one i got is from a f150 and the biggest gear divided by the smallest is 2.73 ratio. I know how to calculate a gear and thats 2.73... 41 tooth divided by 15 tooth.

Congrats you can do simple math. As for what year truck unless there are some markings on it it would be hard to tell what it came out of. Is there a tone ring on the ring gear? If not then its older than 88

There are serial numbers on the biggest gear and the last number on it is 41.
Do you have a place to check the origin of a differential with the serial numbers on the gears?
It dont have the metal tag on the axle.
Thank you again

Ok thank you anyway ...It's my first 4X4 but i was sure that this kind of gear was reserved for hauling on highway. Anyway I will try to find a buyer in Canada for a higher gear.
Thank you
