Thanks! The pics are a little deceiving. The rust on wasn't too far away from destroying this truck for good. Which would've been a shame. The box is pretty rough as is the radiator core support. Which will be replaced next summer. The whole chassis sat covered in mud which didn't help much as well as 20 NY winters. Cosmetics and body work will be last but is coming together nicely.
I forgot to mention...I changed the oil pan gasket expecting it to fix my oil leak...it didnt. The actual oil leak was from the pushrod cover gasket behind the ps pump! So that was replaced with a new fel-pro gasket as well. Also replaced coil and electrical noise suppressor. Painted the cover and coil bracket. Wished I painted dipstick tube as well lol.

Still making painfully slow progress. Got the spindle, knuckle and axle out. Changed radius arm bracket and bushing. New ball joints and u joint going in this week. I hope to have the drivers side back together Friday. Then to start all over again on passenger side!!

Lots of progress! Front end is done. Ball joints, coils, shocks, ujoints, radius arm brackets and bushings and new milemarker lockouts. Also did rear brakes down to cylinders and ebrake cables. Also installed new front bumper and mounting kit, bed and new bolts and taillights. It also a shame the rear bumper is bent, and i think my rear cab mounts and a bit squished lol. Drove it around a bit and everything feels and seems good. Will give everything a double check and good test drive tomorrow after getting plates.

Thanks! It really feels like all the work is paying off. Wish I couldve just got a truck that didnt come from the salt belt but that would be too easy. Drove it an hour back home and about 120 miles this past weekend. Everything seemed pretty good to me, it drove and rode really nice. The 6cy w/auto definitely isnt a power house but slow and steady wins the race. My speedo needle is jumping a little over 45mph so i have to look into that. I may just replace the cluster so I can get a tach. i dont think its the VSS because it only does it at certing MPH. Gotta do some more research. Ill check codes this week and hopefully get her inspected. Still lots to do, this thread is far from over!!

Just checking in on your thread and really enjoying the updates, thanks for letting us live vicariously through your project (without all the rust chunks in our eyeballs!) Keep up the great work, glad to see another one fall into the hands of somebody willing to spend a few bucks and put in work to give it a new lease on life.

Thanks! I was hoping people would enjoy this thread. Wish i was able to get more pics of putting the front end together but I was on a roll haha. Changed the blower motor resistor so now I have all settings working. Having it only work on high was annoying. Thought I was going to break the connector trying to get it unhooked but eventually it came apart. Cleaned it up and silconed it. Ill add x rated pics of the old resistor later. Drove it to work again yesterday, so now im up to over 200 miles. Seems to be running and driving better every time. She sure does suck the gas though, I forgot about that part of truck ownership. Think I have sourced out a nice chrome rear bumper and front sway bar from a truck being parted out, Ill update with that info as well. My sway bar was missing and I have a stabilizer that will go on at the same time.
